Purchasing a G5 2G & 00R

Hello, I am about to purchase a G5 Dual 2g, and after reading a TON of post here about the 002 and G5, I have a few questions since this will be used for Post Production sound mixing for Broadcast, FILM, and TV.

one, so far Digidesign could not recommend any S-ATA drive, only Firewire, can I use a WesterDigital 160Gig w/8meg buffer?

what ram have you guys used? I will the Kingston KTA-G5400/1G work fine?

What meters can I use to see my levels? Dorroughs and Wholer are quite pricey, does anyone know of anotehr hardware based loudness monitors? since Spectrafoo is software driven, I would rather have my CPU for Protools use only


Can I aslo ask what is the best price you have fro the G5 Dial2G? I have seen it for around $2850 so far, was hoping that by the end of the year, Mid Dec it will drop a bit more


and has anyone here use the Canopus ADVC-100 DV? does it sync well for picture over 1 hours? and is this DV pic or quiktime only from and Avid or Final Cut Pro output?

any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreaciated, since I have been using TDM and HD's, slighty out of the budget when you include all the hardware for what you get with LE and DVD toolkit
