Default strip silence features

I'd like to have two additional features in "strip silence":
1. setting for minimum lenght of non-silence event. currently the tools leaves very short clicks between the usable material. before: "blahblahssssssss^ssssssssssblahblah" after: "blahblah______^________blahblah" while I suppose: "blahblah_____________blahblah" as the "^" is just a short click.
2. option for removing silence from the beginning and end of marked area _regardless_ of minimum strip lenght.

comments?

I hardly ever use strip silence. I just chop off the end of a region, zoom in really close, and do a quick fade. No pops, no crackles.

I love strip silence. Good suggestions. The first one especially would be helpful to me. The place to put suggestions like these is the Feature Request Form. I have requested a lower minimum threshold. -48 is kind of stupidly high. It should allow at least -60 and preferably -96. Sometimes I have to Gain up a copy on a separate track 12 to 24 dB prior to doing Strip Silence, then use Grid = Regions/Markers with Separate on Grid on the original to get the results I want.

@jmitchell - strip silence isn't for chopping off the ends of one region at a time, it's for extracting many regions from one.

Haha. No wonder I never used it; I had it all wrong! My bad!

Also if they could make it so we can finely adjust the start/end pads (or manually enter in values? I really wanna believe I'm just missing something here, but honestly, we can't do that?)

Also, make it like Beat Detective where we can "extract a profile" and apply it to another region. For example, using strip silence to analyze the bottom snare track and apply the processing to the top snare track. You could also then duplicate the region and use an audiosuite sidechain compressor or EQ to bring out frequencies to help trigger the detection algorithm and then apply that to the original (or perhaps incorporate a sidechain filter into Strip Silence? That'd be SWEET.)

It is a bit coarse. Fields for entering the value manually would be appreciated.

That would be cool.

In a stroke of nothing less than pure ultimate genius, I decided to try holding down CTRL while moving the sliders today and lo and behold, fine adjustment! Coulda sworn I had tried that before...

But yeah, "extract profile" functions in Strip Silence, please!

That's nice. What version? Ctl doesn't help in 7.3 on either platform.
