Default new \"mbox\" not too far away, I guess

since dealers start reducing prices and throwing in microphones, headphones etc. to sell the stock mboxes.

...not to mention that apple has been rumoured to announce a mbox-like consumer device in january. of course, apple doesn't bundle protools with its product, but many current mbox users would likely have chosen the cheaper option had it been available, so it leaves digi with a "bad product" in hand: too expensive to be a consumer device and too lightly featured to be a pro toy.

i guess mbox2 would:
- have firewire connection
- have midi i/o
- have individual analog i/o and digital i/o streams (still 2in-2out each, totalling 4in-4out max)
- NOT have analog insert points
- NOT have wordclock i/o
- NOT have focusrite name on it

Sounds just like my stab at what's coming. I'm keeping my MBox though, 'cause I don't need any of the extra stuff that's coming our way. Judging by the recent end of 001 support, i reckon I'll see 7.0 plus a few updates before they pull the rug out from under it...

no reason to upgrade for upgrade's sake, but if they introduce a new mbox and that indeed is a firewire device, then that one might have far superior monitoring experience than the current usb mbox
