Triple 19" flat screens on a single stand... Use 2 for the protools system and 1 for video....
www.dell.com under small business, Software & Peripherals, monitors, LCD, multi screen.....

Thay have a bunch of options from single to quad screens on 1 mount. The prices onthis stuff have come way down...

The company that sells these multi-screens is called MASS MULTIPLES...

I'm looking at this too and from what I've seen so far there are tons of options. You can spend hours researching this online. Whether you go with dual (or triple) displays depends on your existing setup and how you like to work. If you use a control surface, you might be better off with 1 larger display. Are you running any other companion apps with PT? I like the Apple displays, but you might want to take a look at others from ViewSonic, Sony, NEC, Dell, etc. Many of them have great specs and offer features like thin bezel design and VESA mounting capability.

We use Dual screens on all our systems... Couldn't live without it now. we use 1 screen for mix window, 1 for edit window, and a third video screen for picture..

We are upgrading to the triple screen units this quarter to reduce physical space requirements. I'm actually going to test 3 screens for protools alone ( 1 for mix, 1 for edit, one for misc windows ) just to see how the performace varies. I also want to test the video running on LCD screen vs CRT performace as well.

These suggestions are all really nice, but the REAL toys for multi screen mounts is here.....

http://www.go-l.com/monitors/index.htm

Some of these configs can do 6400X1200, and above all the LCDs are top notch quality with absolute minimum inter-screen spacing

drooool.............

That is a very good question.

I have run dual monitors for a long time.

While I like having my mix and edit windows on seperate monitors, I have always disliked stretching the edit window out across both monitors when I want to really get down and dirty to view a waveform close-up.

Now that Panther and Expose are here, I am wondering if I would be happier with one wide-aspect monitor.

I currently have two 15" LCD's. I have been debating for a while now, but I am starting to think one wide monitor would be the best thing on top of the ole' Control24 - besides, with a control surface you can "see" the faders anyways so the mix window's functionality changes to plug-in, insert, and input selection window (those are slower to me on the control surface than mousing)

I haven't made the jump yet (mainly due to financial constraints - I bought an entire computer last month, a laptop with a DVD burner! for less than what the Apple display that I want costs. Shame really. FWIW, I think my wife enjoys her laptop a heck of a lot more than she would have enjoyed me having a new 23" monitor

Neither. Wait for the single 30" Apple display.

I used to have dual 17" monitor, but after redesigning the control room I ended up with a single 20" Cinema. Another reason for dropping dual displays was that I also installed a Control24.

After working with the Control24 and single 20" for a few months, I regret dropping the dual 17". I have to buy another 20" cinema. Window switching is a PITA, even with a Control24.

Just my opinion,
Stein Tore
