Default Kontakt 5 Memory Server Will not start??

Scratching my head on this one. Im on:

Mac os 10.6.8
Kontakt 5.1 and have tried 5.03
32 bit kernel boot
Protools 10.3.8

This is my mobile system which I don't use a lot. Just fired up a session and noticed K5 does not have memory server icon in the toolbar. Quit PT and opened K5 standalone, enabled memory server but getting a dialog "could not start memory server, extension disabled" on restart of K5 standalone. Have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, any thoughts?

i would assume that you have to boot in 64 bit mode..
since the memory-server adresses ram above the 32 bit limit (4gb)

regards

64- or 32-bit kernel has nothing to do with this. A 32-bit kernel already addresses well above 4 GB of physical RAM (using Intel PAE) and allows processes to run in that large memory space. What memory space processes can address themselves within that overall address space is determined by whether they are 32- or 64-bit applications. The memory address space of the applications is not directly limited by the kernel in the way that many people seem to think. The big implication of 32-bit vs. 64-bit kernels is allowing even more address space above the PAE limits, and requiring the corresponding 32-bit or 64-bit kernel extension/device drivers.

How much actual physical memory is installed in this Mac?

Past problems with KMS like this I think were caused by mangled installs or wrong file permissions. I'd try unisntalling and reinstalling Kontakt. And look around NI forums etc. using the exact error message. It's likley all a Kontakt not a Pro Tools issue.
