Default error message -9073

hi,

the message says:

'DEA can't get audio from drives fast enough. Your drive may be too slow or fragmented, or a firewire drive could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwidth or CPU load.'

i assume i will have to try de-fragmenting. outside doing this is there anything else i should try?

Are you recording to your system drive? That is not recommended. Try recording to a physically seperate drive. Do not use a USB drive.

That depends on the amount of recording you plan to keep on that drive. I can get by with a 60 gig drive but I backup and remove files regularly. If you don't want to do all that maintenance (you should still back up by the way) you might consider a 250 - 500 GB drive. They're really affordable nowadays. Again, Firewire is recommended and USB is NOT recommended.

You can try on Preferences/operation preferences/open ended record allocation and set it to about 10 minutes or less.

You can try to partition your drives so they are not too big. Believe me, even though were talking milliseconds, the large drives are sometimes problematic for audio files.
