Dropbox session keeps missing linked files
Hi there,
So my colleague and I use dropbox and we put the PT session into the shared folder of dropbox. Open that session file at different times have this problem: 1. All audio files (which are stored under audio folder) are all good. 2. All audio files which are not stored on dropbox, but linked to another location, even it's the exact same path, but everytime when I open the session it went missing and even after automatical search PT can not find it. Anyone has any idea how to solve this?

Re: Dropbox session keeps missing linked files
Wait. You are sharing the session folder directly? or dragging and dropping it into a shared folder... and have other files outside of the session folder and you are wondering why they are not being shared?
Well that is working as expected. The operating system does not magically know that it has to move other files if you move a folder containing some of them. Dropbox does not magically know it has to share extra files outside of what you tell it to. This is no different than the problems people run into when moving sessions with say external drives. Even if you try to move all the external files they may end up in different file path locations and you may have to still locate that content for the session. You have to think carefully what is going on, and the simplest way to do things is always to consolidate all audio content into the session folder. Then it is easy to just drag and drop to move around. And I really hope you are not trying to run sessions from a Dropbox share. Last edited by Darryl Ramm; 05-13-2019 at 05:20 PM. |
