Digi: 002R Clicking but not working

My 002R, which I bought new July 11 and has worked fine, now makes a clicking sound about every 2 seconds (like a slow turn signal), along with the optical LED blinking and the "link" light blinking. It makes the sound regardless if it's connected to the Mac or not. When I try to start Pro Tools, I get a "hardware not ready, please turn it on" message. What's up?

Call digi first thing in the AM dude! I just had 002 replaced, bought it the same day you did. They sent me a replacement the next day.

Same thing with me. Known problem. They will overnight fed ex a new one and take care of you.

There are a couple things you might want to check just to be shure its not just the 002. If you're on Mac try doing the firmware reset all, try swapping firewire ports on the actual mac (i thought i had a bad 002r as well but found out it was my logic board's bottom firewire port that blew out, and my digi was fine). I have seen 1 002r at the store go bad though, so that is still possible for you, but just trouble shoot everything else just to make sure bro.........good luck

That's good advice. He has the rack and it obviously doesn't have a stand alone mode. That's how I isolated it. My 002 continually reset when no firewire cable was plugged into it.

Today I bought a new 002 Rack with exactly the SAME problem. I returned it to the seller who gave me a replacement.
The new one works ok.
Low quality control I guess.
It says made in PRC" in the back. Where is that place?
