Default Sound Designer 2.8.3 on a G4

Hi,

This is my first post. I am running Sound Designer 2.8.3 on a beige G3 running OS 9.0.4. Everything works great. I am thinking of upgrading to a new G4. They are currently running OS 9.2.1. Will I be able to continue running Sound Designer? I realize it is old software, but for my work, it is still the perfect program.

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately we do not have any test results with newer machines and operating systems, though there have been reports of users running it succesfully.

One major difference from the beige G3 to a G4 is the lack of a floppy drive on the G4 (SDII uses a floppy disk for authorization). Please check the floppy drive info (about half way down the page) on the compatibility archive page.

I've been succesfully running SDII on a G4/500 with AMIII card for about a year. I've only just retired it in favor of Peak, although now I mostly do my 2-track editing on a PC with Wavelab. The main problem with SDII on a G4 is that the screen redraws are TOO fast - you go to scroll a little bit and BANG you've gone a few minutes down the sound file. Otherwise, works fine for me. I still prefer SDII, but the limited file formats and processing just make it not workable for me anymore.
