Default Antares Auto-Tune 3 Pitch Correcting Plug-In

Has anyone used this on harmony vocals? Does it make the vocals 'tighter'? What about on fretless instruments like violins, upright basses? Does it work there?
I've been reading the specs on this, and I'm almost convinced to buy it. Is there another plugin like this that is better than anyone can recommend? Ok guys, convince me that I have to have this or not...

Thanks in advance,

Zetajazz44

It saved a lead guirtar performance of mine. Fools somke people into thinking I can sing. Try the 14 day demo. Nothing beats perfect intonation but for the rest of us....

I can't live without Autotune!

Works great for backing vocals. A bit time consuming to disguise it with a bare, lead vocal, but possible.

Can you all provide some tips on how to operate the Autotune? It looks difficult to me. How would you get started on it?

Thanks

Thanks for everyone's input on this... Now, one more question. I've been looking over Digi's site as well as a few others about this plugin. I've seen 2 different 'models':
1: Auto-Tune 3 RTAS-PC - $359.00
2: Auto-Tune 3 DirectX - $269.00

Can someone explain the difference to me? I'm running ProTools 6.x. Which one do I need and why?

Thanks again!

Hi,

You need the rtas version because PTLE doesn't support dx.

Of course it would be the most expensive one...

I've downloaded the trial version of Auto Tune 3, but I am out of town on business and haven't got to try it on any of my projects (Friday night I will). If I can make my harmony vocals 'tighter' with this, without giving them too much of an artificial robotic sound, I'll buy it. I just hope I can figure the plugin out to where I can use it effectively before the trial is over... 10 days is not a lot of time to learn new software when you only get to use it on weekends. At least 10 days is not a lot of time for me to learn...

Thanks to all!

I use Melodyne Cre8 made by Celemony, it is simply amazing what you can do with it. I also use auto-tune but prefer Melodyne!
