Sony Oxford Limiter sounds a lot better than that...

second that. Besides that you don´t have to run through Waves WUP.

Also remember Dinosaurs are extinct for a reason

I´d try the stuff from www.elementalaudio.com , some REAL bang for the buck, highly professional.

and URS EQ of cause...

i am big fan of the PSP Vintage Warmer. it's a lot better than the L2 or L3 in my mind. it's cheap too.

I'd recommend not trying to master in Pro Tools at all, its not geared up for it. I took the plunge and bought Bias Peak Pro, i upgraded from Peak LE after i was more than satisfied. When it comes to mastering it literally lets you master in the proper sense and i'm not just talking maxing the track as loud as you can. I'm talking applying cross fades to CD tracks, adding CD track markers, metadata, CD-Text and pretty much any edit function you would ever want to do to an audio file and more. Not to mention it has a very good compressor for mastering, bias squeeze as well as AU and VST support. Theres nothing you can't do in Peak. Whereas if you spend £250 on a Digi plugin your really not putting the money to good use. If your serious about mastering check out Bob Katz book 'Mastering Audio the art and science of'. It puts a whole new meaning to the word mastering.

Good Luck, which ever way you decided to go.

i'm looking at mastering software too - other than L2/L3... anyone else have any experience with Peak or Elemental Audio? Does Peak have a stand alone limiter? if so, how is it? Vintage Warmer is cool, but i like having a limiter in addition to that.

Just another quick point, have any of you guys taken a look at the TC Electronics Powercore package. There are two models which are compatible with Pro Tools via the VST wrapping software. Whats more you get 12-14 cream of the crop plugins with designated firewire hardware.

Powercore Compact Firewire = Capable of running 12 mono powercore plugins (£500) Check it out
Powercore Firewire rackmount = Capable of running 24 mono plugins (£800) Check it out

Just imagine running Pro Tools with 24 plugins and the plugins being processed in real time without even touching your CPU, thats seriosuley cool. Not to mention TC plugs kick ass.

Regards
