No levels and record \"rolls\" sloooowly.

I have a G4 500 with 768mb ram and two LVD 9gig drives, PT24 Mix, 882/20 interface, USD. When we recently reconfigured our patch bay, I started up and tried to record a test session, no levels show on the meters in PT and it seems to record only a couple of frames per minute.
Anyone have an idea what might be set wrong?
