Default Dolby Media Meter vs. LM100

Hi.

Looking to purchase DMM or LM100 for upcoming Discovery series. Will Dolby Media Meter suffice?

Thanks.

Absolutely! I ditched my LM100 the week the DMM came out

I worked in-house at Discovery up until a year ago & still mix tons of Discovery projects with the DMM.

You make it sound as though DMM is an inferior product. It is actually far more advanced than an LM100.

My question is whos checking your mix?

whould it be discovery? Or a quality control place?

What gear do they have, to check your mix?

Anyone know?

We have a DMM at the studio but i havent messed around with it.

Well if delivery spec says ITU.1770/LKFS then you set DMM to that.

If they have an LM100 and want spec to LEq(A) then you set DMM to that.

Here in the UK I just use DMM to make sure I have a nice average dialogue level that fits within the PPM spec where we don't have an actual average dialogue range, but I find mixes sound more accurate by setting an arbitrary average dialogue level, and ensuring it doesn't go above around PPM5 for dialogue and PPM6 for the main mix.
