Default 8 core mac?

Hi,
I'm switching from PC to Mac hopefully on this computer...http://support.apple.com/kb/sp11.
It will be a hd2 pcie accel system with Protools 9
I read the compatibility post but I'm having a hard time finding out if it's a Westmere.
How stable would this system be? Most of my projects are under 50 tracks and I usually work at 88.2 khz and I record 24 tracks at a time.
Before dumping all that cash into new PCIe cards and a new computer I need to know if it's going to be stable 100%
Are any of you out there using one
If it's not a good system could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

great thanks!
If there are any people out there running pt9 hd2 accel pcie system on the harpertown 8 core with issues please chime in.
I'm tired of crashes and I'm a small studio so it's a lot of money for me but if it'll be rock solid it's worth the investment
Thanks

another question.
In the mac pro the pci slots are a lot larger than the core and accel PCI e?
Are they still compatible? They must be but but would appreciate a verification
Thanks

Yes, there are nodes in the mac pro's PCIe slots that are unused by the PCIe TDM cards. The slots are designed for faster PCie cards like graphics cards that need more bandwidth, but they will work fine with pro tools cards.

in the system requirement page for Protools 9 it says the Harpertown performance might vary for large sessions.
Would the performance vary if I'm using 50 tracks at 88.2khz with 3/4 of my cpu
usage?

I have a lead on a Harpertown 8 core.
This is the last chance to research. I'll be using a hd 2 pcie accel system with either protools 8 or 9.
I've done a lot of study on this forum but would like to hear from people using this config. Is it 100% stable? anything to look out for? Are you happy with this computer?
Thanks

I´m running a HD3 Accel in a Harpertown 2x2,8GHz (Mac Pro early 2008, 8 core), 14Gb RAM, PT8

Very fast and stable system even with huge projects (100+ tracks)
