Default Dead 002\'s with nothing left but the MUTE light

As most people probably know now, the problem is a faulty 'power harness'. It seems to be affecting a lot of units. It is very easy to fix and they are very helpfull with the whole process, once you track them down...
When I asked why they made no statement about it on their website, digidesign said that if they did they would be deluged with returned units whether they had the problem or not. Now, it appears to me that most of us can't really afford to find out about this problem the hard way and be left high and dry with work deadlines just because dd don't want the hassle of us all calling them.
I'll probably get black-listed by them for posting this but I feel it is important for people who haven't experienced the problem yet to be forwarned.

Wondering if there is any pattern to the crashes common of the 002r's. Mine is 2 weeks old, and when I turn it on, it clicks three times. I have also noticed that my mute button does not actually work.

Is this a harbinger of a catastrophe?

Yes, it is a manufacturing problem. It will happen to every 002R that was sold before the problem was discovered. The fix is very easy and pain free. Contact tech support and they will overnight a new power harness to you. I just did mine.

The three clicks is normal - it is setting itself up and clicks three times. The mute light not turning is bad.
