Default Mouse cursor vanishes

I have sometetimes the problem that the mouse cursor (the arrow) disappears while working in Pro Tools 10, Windows 7 x64. It's still visible in all other applications, but in Pro Tools it's gone, not visible anywhere.

The only solution I've found is restarting Pro Tools. A pain.

Side note: I use an MC Mix (now Artist mix). Could be related to that, very maybe.

Does Pro Tools freeze completely - can you still use keyboard shortcuts or a control surface?

Download and install the latest updates for Pro Tools if you haven't already.

Thanks Joel for the reply.

Pro Tools does not freeze, it's fully operational, but (only in Pro Tools) the mouse isn't visible.

When I check for updates it says "Your Pro Tools software is up to date".
Fun thing is, I just found out using your link that I have version 10.3.2 while there is actually a 10.3.4 Available. Really useful feature, this "Check for updates" function. NOT... Anyways I'll be installing 10.3.4 today, though the issue is not mentioned in the readme.

Other apps sometimes have disappearing pointers when pointer trails or other visibility options are enabled. If not already off, try turning those off in the mouse control panel.

I get this all the time. When I open timeshift as an audio sweet plug in, and them accidentally type in the plug in GUI because it takes over keyboard and mouse movements, sometimes my curser vanishes. It seems like the curser is behind the pro tools GUI but I can still click on the screen with the mouse. I just can't see what I'm doing. Moving the curser over timeshift fixes it and I can see the curser again. Timeshift is a funky plug in.

Interesting, I wonder if that's the cause in my case too. When it happens again I'll try this.

Confirmed: Time Shift is the cause.

I used it in audiosuite, and about a minute AFTER I used it the mouse suddenly disappeared. All I had to do was rollover the Time Shift window and the mouse appeared again.

Pro Tools is "a never ending source of astonishment", as Tuvok would put it... How do they program over there at Avid?

Additional info:

Everytime I press "-" to try and show the volume automation of a track, instead the mouse vanishes again and volume automation is not shown. Roll over timeshift, mouse visible again.

Solution: Close the freakin' Time Shift window and use a third party plugin that works properly.

This one is in about the same range as when Pro Tools wouln't startup after installing Internet Exploror 8. That was a classic, that one.

I remember seeing this behavior back in PT 8 although I forgot which plug. I just tried to reproduce this and its acting normal in PT 10.3.4.

You might see if there's a newer download of TimeShift out there on the product page and install the latest version of TimeShift.

Anyone else reproduce this?

I thought plugins like time shift where build in and didn't require a seperate reinstall. I had just installed PT 10.3.4 when this happened again.

Anyways, judging the product page of time shift, which is highly out of date, I doubt that there is a newer version available. How can one check that?
