well this all kinda makes sense preparing for the collab thing and all... so there will be easier workings between versions of HD and Vanilla. not so much the input monitoring but the track counts sure make sense. cheers avid and thanks (installing PT 12.1 as i type)

If you have a HEAT License you don't need to install it, its already there.

Just go to "options" and its at the bottom of the list (Activate HEAT) then go to your mix window make sure you have at least one audio track present and click the "arrow/line" icon in the very bottom right of the mix window this will reveal a new panel showing the HEAT controls.

Installed HD12.1 on MBP retina and Trash Can and works as good as 12.0 so thats great news

Why are they still tying heat to HD hardware? If it runs natively now, allow us all to have it.

I know, I know, I should be thankful for the already unexpected surprises they gave us. And I am glad to see them. But I think for pro tools to really work they need to break down all software barriers. Just my .02.

Well It's Not tied to HD Hardware as of 12.1 today

We just need to pay for it which isn't unusual.

I have mixed feelings. I hung on to my HEAT license from when I used TDM cards back with Pro Tools 9/10 then had to lose it when I moved to HD Native. Now I'm getting it back again. It feels like recovering a feature I already paid for years ago. So is it really a new feature?! Why not give it to PT 11 HD users as a sign of good faith?

Also, no collaboration features yet. So do I pony up the $599 for a perpetual license upgrade from 11 to 12.1 today? Help me decide please.
