Sweetwater Presets for the 11rack

are these any good? I am thinking about getting my 11rack somewhere else.....but are these really worth an extra $50?

The presets alone....NO....they are some pretty good Gee Whiz stuff, and like most presets a good place to start, but largely not really usable without tweaking.

HOWEVER - The 2 year warranty is probably worth 50 bucks, since I have seen the extended warranty cost up to 100 bucks on units that are 50 bucks cheaper.

Couple that with the fact that you can get free support if you need it. Not only the 11 R but also on ProTools, so no need to buy a support code from Avid unless ya really really get stuck.

Honestly, I am new to Sweetwater, I've only bought Sibelius First and the 11R from them, having bought most of my ProTools hardware and software else where, but I WILL be a repeat customer.

Sweetwater offers great support and good prices, they will price match and they have inventory on hand.

Their exclusive presets dont do a thing for me. Your opinion may differ.

You can overwrite them if you don't like them

Maybe they have changed their policies, but I asked Sweetwater to price match an 11R and they would not do it. I also ask them to price match on guitar strings, I was going to buy 12 - 20 packs, but they would not price match, both time I bought elsewhere for much less $$$. Both those were a couple years ago.

I did buy the PT9 upgrade from them and they were quick at getting me the codes I needed.

Yeah as a company sweet rocks - I just sent back a Presonus 24.4.2 and got them To ship me a Behringer X32 - no questions asked

Love them - but i wanted to know about these presets

Honestly, check out Benoni's presets. Not brown nosin' or playin' favorites for one of our moderators, but they are pretty good.

Now that said, I have slightly tweaked all of them that i have used thus far to my own liking, and have learned a few things along the way.

If you sound anything like Steve Stevens, using his preset, please post a link ;-)
All those "superstar" guitarist presets just keep on disappointing IMO. Make your own sound count the most. It's also more fun.

Absolutely right, and if you'll be an early adopter of PT11, the Sweetwater support may come in handy. I'm a long time Sweetwater customer, and they've always done right by me.
