Default Re: pro control db25 cables for monitor section

How do you guys go about connecting your monitors to the pro controls monitor section with db25 cables? My monitors are about 4 to 5 feet apart which seems farther than the cables will spread because the db25 cables are wrapped till the end of the cable where it fans out to the 8 trs or xlr cables.

Do you use a short db25 to female trs or xlr and connect trs or xlr cables to those that go to the monitors and the headphone amp?

Yeah I always use, adaptors off of the main cable, whatever they may be to reach.

I build my own cables just so I have exactly what I need and so they don’t cost a fortune.

I never used the PC as a monitor unit, I always had 3rd party units for monitoring....just because they were more robust, offered more io and were lots cleaner.

The PC was great as a control surface but it didn’t have a great monitoring control sound...especially this far into the game.

Each connector is a risk, the soldering could be bad or wrong, contacts can oxidise, connectors can come loose, etc... So in theory the best way is to go straight to the monitors without additional connectors.

But using a short db25 and extend it with extension cables will work fine too. Make sure you use xlr and not trs, because xlr connectors do make contact on a large surface (it's a large pin within a large buss) while trs connectors do make contact on a very small surface (point-to-point).
