C24 fader touch issues
I just hooked up a C|24 and the faders are responding strangely. In the test area, the faders register touch but it flickers on and off, and sometimes not at all. If I touch a group of faders they register the touch correctly. If I try to move an individual fader, the the motors fight against it. This happens outside of ProTools too. Could the power supply be faulty?
I have tried disconnecting/swapping ethernet cables, power cables, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: C24 fader touch issues
C/24>calibrate faders. Also note that finger needs to be on the fader, touching the top or bottom edges will be intermittent (Can't feel the heat)

Re: C24 fader touch issues
Yes, I've tried calibrating through the on board tests/prefs, but the touch is still only reading intermittently. I know they need to be touched on the top but it's not making a difference. The only time the faders read the touch correctly is when I'm touching more than one simultaneously.

Re: C24 fader touch issues
There's a test mode in the Utility menu, that allows you to check the touch sensor readings. You can see there how the frequency changes when you touch one or more faders. If you write the result here, I can tell you if your readings are different from mine.
DetroitT: They don't feel any heat, they are electrically conductive and feel the capacity of your body.

Before this thread goes downhill really quickly...
... and feel the capacity of your body. It's capacitance BTW: It's the same principle used by condenser mics...

Re: C24 fader touch issues
Ran through the touch tests and the touch seem to be registering intermittently, so it looks like it's a capacitance/grounding issue. I've checked the electrical sockets and the wiring is correct, but I still have the problem. There is nothing else in the room besides the board and desk, so I don't think it's an rf issue. Tried with lights on and off as well as sometimes halogens can generate rf, but no difference. As soon as I ground myself to the desk, board, or power supply, everything works correctly. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

You wouldn't happen to be a guitarist with thick callouses on your fingers? That definitely impedes the faders picking up contact.

Re: C24 fader touch issues
I have the exact same issue, did you ever figure out what it was?

Re: C24 fader touch issues
You should check the outlet to see if it has a good ground. Put a humidistat in the room and see how dry it is. If its really dry, stick a humidifier in a corner. Maybe attach a piece of 10 gauge wire to the back panel and run it to ground? Proper grounding is required for this function(so make sure nobody hacked off the ground pin on the power cord too)
