Default FIZZING ON RECORDING/PLAYBACK FW1814

Hi, i have got my FW1814 setup now and have now encountered yet another problem. every few seconds random fizz of variying volumes starts to pollute my recordings and playback. it seems to be on playback but occurs while i am recording. i tested the signals (which are not clipped) and i even imported drum samples that do not clip to test. i also tried bringing down the gain using the trim insert in pro tools but the fizz still occurs and is definitely highlighted on hard accented music parts eg...snare/kick/hard guitar strokes - although nothing is actually peaking... then alll of a sudden every few seconds and entire section will start fizzing like white noise but obviously part of the music mix volume.

anyone got any ideas?

thank you!

I had a similar problem on my MacBook Pro with an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile - if you've currently got your DAE Playback Buffer set to higher than level 2, try dropping it back to level 2 - it seems to have helped here.

I *did* turn off "Ignore RTAS Engine Errors During Playback/Record" at the same time, however, so it could be either of those things.

matt, you do realise you now give me no reason as to why i shouldnt be knuckling down to work on an EP. what do i tell people now?

i did exactly what you suggested. of course this means that those settings arent changeable but i no longer have fizzing! its crystal clear.

thanks so much!

Default PLAYBACK INTERRUPTIONS DURING EDIT ON MACBOOK PRO

Hi, I have a similar problem with MacBook Pro and Protools M-Powered 7.3, FW 1814, when I insert the cursor or try to manipulate midi notes or audio regions during playback, the playback stops for a second then resumes from the same point. Its extremely disturbing cause I cant do anything in edit window on the fly, Im obliged to stop playback every tima. I tryed ProTools LE 7.3 on the same computer and it works fine. Of coarse I tryed everything, from trashing the prefs to reseting the M-Audio hardware. Please Help !

I've found why, Its because dynamic playback was selected, a new feature in 7.3 which I dont understand but anyway Im glad it solved the problem.
