Default Clicks and Pops :(

Fresh installation of OSX bare minimum (no ilife/garageband/etc), upgraded to 10.5.7, permissions repaired, etc.

Profire 610 drivers installed.
Pro Tools 8 Installed.
Pro Tools 8CS3 Installed.

Using a Mac Pro 3,1 (3.2ghz 16GB ram, 10k raptor drive, 7.2k storage drives, 8800gt)

Buffer settings 128/256 = clicks and pops. MAD clicks and pops. Absolutely ridiculous.

Settings are 90% CPU (max I can at this buffer size?)
Default harddrive cache settings
8-Processors

Using HR824 monitors with 4ft mogami gold cables with neutrik connectors going to each one (balanced).

Using 3FT Firewire 400 cable. High quality. Tried many FW cables.

Can't get rid of these clicks in pops when I use instruments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For what its worth, I have an Ilok, a keyboard, a mouse, and an M-Audio Axiom 49 Pro.

Thanks!.

Considering I used buffer sizes of 32/64 on this computer with cubase, the performance im getting from PT8 should be way better.

try verify/repair and reformatyour external harddrive where you are saving your session data.
I had pops and clicks on playback on a drive which I had not done that in a while
and bad blocks were detected. I did the above and problem went away

I have verified and repaired over and over again. Disks have been verfied + fixed. I get this problem no matter what disk I record to. All my storage (recording) disks are completely wiped. I don't have any external disks.

Just internal boot drive + storage disks.

I get the -6101 error constantly. ONE AUDIO TRACK RECORDING. No plugins, nothing.

Absolutely ridiculous. I can't even use the lowest buffer settings with one track. Not even 256, or 512! This needs to be addressed.

No offense, but going around and posting that same thing over and over again, when (it sounds like) you don't even really know what you are talking about, isn't really very helpful at all.

I'm very familiar with firewire controller chipsets, and all Mac Pros happen to use TI chipsets.
