Default What tweaks to do in Win7 Ult64?

I have been searching the forums in regards to Win7 Ult64 and PT 8.03 update.

I am going to play with a clean OS install.
Intel Quad Core 9550? don't remember exactly.
I have 8 gigs of ddr2 mem installed. I use a dual screen capable ATI 1300?? video card, simple and works well. PCI-e I believe.
I build my own computers and Over Clock just a tad as long as there no issues.
I stress test the system prior to starting to install any software other then the OS. Everything has to be stable before I will start adding programs.
This computer will have a dedicated approved PCI fire wire card.
OS and installed programs on one separate drive. Data/Music on 2 other drives.
SATA hard drives Qty 3, No internet access, no virus software as it won't see any internet or files that have not been scanned and tested.
I have the updates for my PT8+ Maudio software, on a thumb drive.
I will use my Delata1010 PCI device. I have the updated driver from Maudio for Win7 64.

Do I have to or can I disable or uninstall Internet Explorer 8?

Those using Win7 64bit OS, What OS services have you turned on or off?
What tweaks have you done to try and stabilize your system?
What order do you install the PT software in?
I have PT8.0 as a down loaded file not a disc.
I have PTools Maudio 7.4 on a CD disc.
I have the update files also on the same flash drive. What is the correct sequence to do the install?
What do I need to be aware of?

Do you guys turn off any of the Aero features?
I will use no screen savers or desk top images. I will keep everything as plain jane as possible.
Do you turn off any system services?
Do you select install in compatibility mode or as administrator for anything?
I will not let the computer go into hibernate or sleep mode as that always seems to present problems.
Anything else?
All suggestions will be appreciated and I will try and document what procedures I am taking so that I can hopefully help others in the future or use this thread for others to follow.
I will try and post my success's and or failures back here for others to see.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Edited for spelling and stupid mistakes

Actually Avid has a rather good tweak available:

I its beyond me why they do not makes this important tweak a sticky in this forum.

Thank you very much. I had never seen this before. I added it to my pro tools short cuts and will use it after I install a clean version of the OS.

It is very similar to the help file that referenced windows XP.

Thanks again.

You are very welcome. I stumbled over it myself the other day, and when I saw your message I had already forgotten where I found the link. Google was no help. Suddenly it hit me that it was on the avid website. Once again I think it would be a super idea to have the link represented as a sticky in this forum, since all win7 users can benefit from this link. I bookmarked it too (will never forget again) :)

Hey Fridrikur, you rock! I can't thank you enough for providing that link to the Windows 7 tweaks. The problem for me was that my PT 8.0.3 was freezing up right at around 20 minutes of usage, and i'd have to shutdown the PC manually. UGH! After reading that web page, i found that Win7 was shutting off power to my dedicated audio hard drive after 20 minutes! As i applied most of those Win7 tweaks, i do believe that this setting was the culprit. I've been able to work now without the app freezing!

Thanks bro!
