Default Does PT 10 support raid?

My library is on a raid drive so I'm hoping PT 10 will finally support raid?

From the Whats new in PT 10 Guide

RAID
Pro Tools 10 supports hardware-based RAID

(
redundant array of independent disks) systems

for opening, playing back, and recording Pro
Tools sessions. However, performance is not
guaranteed and is dependent on a variety of factors
including network bandwidth.
As with lower versions of Pro Tools, Pro Tools
10 also supports software-based RAID systems
using ATTO RAID software, which makes several
RAID volumes appear as a single volume to

the operating system.

Please ignore the formating as it was a copy and paste hack job. I would think your sample library would not have an issue streaming from a RAID array. The only why to tell is to try it.

With RAM caching ... What do need RAID for?

except the reliability to play back or record A LOT of tracks, transfer speed for backups for example comes to mind, or even the ability to continue to work while backing up and still being able to use enough bandwidth of that disk for Pro Tools

Someone else said the Lacie Thunderbolt (which is also RAID) was working great (I think it was Peter Moshay on Gearslutz), so I expect this would work as well.

I have been using SoftRAID for about 3 years now. Works perfectly.

I record all my stuff to a 4 Drive RAID0... Lightening fast.

Works a charm with PT and has been for a long time...

I use the software SoftRAID which is superior to disk utility but you CAN use DU... Only its very tedious....

PT10 is fairly drive-agnostic. That's the beauty of the new DAE - even without "Extended Disk Cache".
