Default MacBook Pro and Firewire Expresscard/34

I am using XP on a MacBook Pro via boot camp. I do not want to have to daisy chain my HD and 1814. Can someone please recommend a firewire expresscard that they have successfully used with their HD and/or firewire interface. Thanks.

Alright, since I somehow seem to be the only person on this board that doesn't want to daisy chain their hd and firewire interface, I'll go ahead and answer myself so if you guys decide to upgrade, this might help.

Hey Gunnell! Try this one out:

or if you could use an extra usb 2.0 port, try this:

Good Luck!

I'm calm. Like I said, I'm going to continue posting about this topic incase someone has the same question in the future, this thread will help.

As far as your post goes... Your info doesn't help me only because it's too late now. It definitely could have helped me days ago. XP doesn't have anything to do with it. I probably should have just left that out. The card will work on both sides. Thanks for the reply though.

I know, I know. I'm too late to help you. Well, it took M-Audio a while to get back to me. When I created a support issue about the configuration of my firewire 410 and ext HD on my macbook pro with only 1 firewire port this was the response:

[Alex Solano -- 08/21/2007 09:13:00]
Actually the way you have it connected with the Hard Drive daisy chained after the FW410 is the correct configuration.
Just make sure you are not using the power supply for the FW410.

Hope that helps somebody. Chaining these should not be a problem......

Chaining will work, the only problem is that the HD and interface are now running off of the same bus. If you split them up the bus will be doing a lot less work and will run smoother and you'll be less likely to lose data or have something else horrible happen.

I understand that, though I wouldn't think that you would run into problems unless the track count was getting pretty high.

I personally have had no problems thus far, and don't feel the need to spend more $$ on a big maybe. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Makes sense. I've got a lot of tracks though. It was broke, had to fix it.
