Default Nudging underlying audio on Macbook

Is there a way to use the feature "nudge data within clip (moves underlying audio)" on a Macbook Pro? On a proper keyboard with a numeric keypad you hit ctrl +/- but on a laptop? It seems weird that this feature is completely unaccessible on laptops.

Same goes for "change nudge/grid values" shortcuts, but at least you can still change those the old-fashioned way via popup menu.

Even external numeric keypads seem to not do the trick since their keystrokes can't be modified by modifier keys ctrl/alt/cmd - am I correct?

So, is there any other way to get this back on a laptop?

Very best,
Sebastian

On macbook to nudge, you need keyboard focus on, and then , and . are the nudge keys. (they keys that do < > with shift, if you need a visual aid)
So maybe control with those keys will do what you want?
I've got something rendering right now in PT so I can't try it.

Thanks jntracks, but I tried that. It doesn't work. Keyboard focus , and . only nudge. They don't nudge data within the clip or change grid/nudge values.

Ok, I got something working with QuicKeys now. It basically reroutes , and . keystrokes to NumPad - + keystrokes with the various modifier keys like so:

ctrl , ---> ctrl NumPad -
ctrl . ---> ctrl NumPad +
opt , ---> opt NumPad -
opt . ---> opt NumPad +
cmd , ---> cmd NumPad -
cmd . ---> cmd NumPad +
ctrl opt , ---> ctrl opt NumPad -
ctrl opt . ---> ctrl opt NumPad +
opt cmd , ---> opt cmd NumPad -
opt cmd . ---> opt cmd NumPad +

You can even tell QuicKeys to activate key repeat (in the little hot key popup).

That's cool. But if anyone has an idea that doesn't involve third party software I'd be happy to hear about it. I still love the idea of an external numerical keypad on the side, but apparently they don't recognize modifier keys being pressed on the laptops keyboard.

Is there a list of other keyboard shortcuts that normally require the numeric keypad (like shuttle etc.) that can be done otherwise on a macbook without a numeric keypad option?
