Default Funtion of scrub wheel on pro control

Can't seem to use the nifty new scrub/selector tool in PT 5 with the scrub wheel.
Has this been overlooked?
Digi promiced that Pro Control would not get 'stuck in PT version 4 time'.

How bout it?

Thank you

Jules

I think the scrub wheel ranks right up there with the trackpad as for REAL use. I am considering replacing the trackpad with a metal plate with a headphone jack since the headphone jack is in the worst place it could have been put. We have already broken a couple of plugs off headphones with the placement and angle of that jack under the right side. What a blunder! Apparently NO ONE at Digi ever tried a headphone in that jack with the PC sitting on a table. We have also scratched up our expensive new MAP desk with that.

Some have suggested the trackpad as a place to put your coffe cup. I am not that crazy.

Otherwise the PC is GREAT!!!!

This is getting ignored over on the Pro Control section, so bump up to the top here. I love my Pro Control, just want the best of PT 5 to work on it........

for what it is worth Jules...I'll keep tryin too untill digi tells me why our scrubwheel does not function properly anymore since PT 5.

Again....mouse scrub works fine....no audio speedup and sample accurate....
srcubwheel is jumpy and nervous,,,,,not the least accurate.....even in "fine resolution mode" (CTL+scrub) (although much better)....and it speeds up the audio, which shuttle should do but not the scrub.

Digi please ?????

You forget Chris, our Daddy is gone (the guy that designed Pro Control), we are all orphans now, all alone, boo hoo! Sob!
Would digi please be so kind as to keep this brilliant, single most expencive item in thier whole range (and the most high profile item via all the ad's), fully updated in step with the world class softwear it's supposed to control?

Thanks a lot

Jules

P.S. I personaly find the 'feel' of the scrub wheel brilliant to use.

Jules,

If you have a second, can you please try out the following on your system :

In a rather high zoom (say 1 second view)..try to pinpoint the cursor using the scrubwheel in scrubmode without using the fine resolution shortcut (CTL + scrub). Can you please let me know if on your system you are able to put the cursor at what ever position you want it to be or not. I am still not 100 % sure that it is not my PC having some default. Over here the cursor is jumpy and nervous,.... and it did not do that with PT 4. Then try to do the same with the mouse or trackball and see if it is any different.

Just want to know if it is me bein paranoid or if it is s th with the PC in combination with PT 5.

Thanks a lot

Chris.

Hey all,
Please hop back over to the ProControl forum to read my response to the "scrub behavior" posts. It would be way better if you folks post there, since the new product manager for ProControl, myself and others need to be able to get to your questions and comments, and if they're organized there that will be easier for all. Thanks!

Hey Jules (and all),
Most of the time I don't get too concerned when folks don't know about what goes on internally at Digidesign and who is responsible for what (we're a real team oriented group here). But when I read Jules' post here I had to say something. Jules assumes that a "Big Daddy" who developed ProControl has left Digidesign, and implies that is development or responsiveness to requests has slowed.

First, let me assure you that this is not the case. You'll be happy to see new developments with ProControl in upcoming Pro Tools releases.

If you want to look at ProControl's development, there was (and is) an entire *team* of people involved, and I'm one of those people (and have been since the very beginning). Doug Wood, (who has switched responsibilities at Digidesign and hasn't left us), was the product manager for ProControl when it was introduced.

But I'm sure Doug would be one of the first ones to say it: Mike Rockwell and I were primary designers of the software implementation and layout on this project. I'm still here at Digidesign, and I'm working with our new ProControl product manager, Gannon Kashiwa, for the next round of developments with this product. There are many others who really contributed to ProControl's success, including applications engineer Sandeep Gupta who did most of the personality work implementation and a product manager (Mike McRoberts, who is now at Tascam) who shepherded early development of what became the final product. So many people worked on this project, I could go on and on. Hope this sets the record straight

Great news! Thanks for the confidence boost, the Pro Control part of the DUG had been getting ignored of late, hence the post here.
