Default Error Message 6045 Frequency HELP

Don't shoot me - I'm new here + yes I was
aware of the 'compatibility' issue w/ my
Beige G3(266) and DIGI 5.0.1 and,yes, I've read
various earlier correspondences about this
in the DUC...The problem is that I get 6045
12-15 times in a 4 hr.session.It's F***in
embarrassing with guys that are here, paying
me for my time and,I have to cross my fingers
wondering if we can get through a 3 min.
guitar track without the message popping up
and stopping everything !
Somebody at this site said they get this
message every 40 hrs.I'd be laughing if that
was all I ever got.I only use my Mac for music and have LogicAudio on board too.I
replaced my Yamaha DSPfactory with PTle+DIDI 001...I'm thinkin' maybe I made a mistake;I
absolutely love the program but cannot handle
the frequency that I'm getting this message.
Digi-Tech people tell me to go back to 5.0
and that I'll get fewer of these messages.
But then things don't look good for 5.1 which
was going to be better for me in the area of MIDI.Tech-guy actually told me to get a later
model Mac...Well, up here in Canada,that's a
$4000.00 request.Am I "whining"? I just got
the ver.5.0 in the mail and have not tried that but I'd love to be able to use what I've got AND take 5.1 and other
future upgrades WITHOUT changing computers.
Any suggestions ?

The problem is with the Beige G3. I had the same problem. I called Digi Tech Support and they said that it's some sort of glitch that only occurs with the Beige G3s and they never could figure out what it was. Some people get it every 40 hrs, some people get it every couple of minutes. The way it was explained to me, there's really no way around it ... I had to get a new computer.

jordan,

hate to confirm it, but mr peete's right.
my fully decked out beige G3 333 decided to give me the same crap over and over and over.

nothing helped. 8.6, 9.0, 9.0.4, scsi uw, no scsi uw, one monitor, two monitors. it's now sitting in the corner as a backup/cd burning/scanning station.

which in turn is a blessing.

I bought a G4/400 agp, extra ram, extra drive, 2 graphite 17" monitors and the stealth port.
bam. running lean and mean without any b.s.

I also stripped the machine of ANYTHING that didn't need to be there. gobs and gobs of micros**t extensions and apple crapplola that never gets used.

with the rebates on the better machines, you can't lose!

best of luck,
v v gregory

jordan

Go back to 5.0. Reset your PRAM. Add more ram.Set your catch size to 512 and add more memory to your DAE and ProTool applacation.
You'll not get rid of the error 6045 but at lease these will give you more time in between
the period it happen.

I too am disgusted with the "6045"! It happens to me about every 2-5 minutes. I just got the Digi and it is basically unusable!

Does anyone know if I would put an upgrade card (G3/450) in, would it cure this problem? Has anyone had any success with this?

Please talk to us, the "PT platinum" users.

By the way, my setup is:

Beige g3 DT
233 mHz
192 Mb Ram
2- 15GB Quantum Fireball HD's (ATA)
PT 5.01

What can possibly be THAT different between a B/W G3 and the beige model? Is this error based on the "bus" speed or in the processor itself? I am not a tech, but if I was to throw a G4 upgrade card in, would it cure the 6045 error?

Digi guys? A little help? I just can't seem to put my beautiful platinum baby in the corner!

Just to sum up some 'known issues' I created a special page for our buggy friend -6042: http://utopia.knoware.nl/users/tapetv/DAE-6042.html

Hope it will help some...
