Default Re: AAE error -9173 stronger than ever on PT 12.5

Has anyone found a resolution to this issue?

I'm running PT 12.7 HD on a 2.7GHz 12-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with 64 Gigs of RAM, 1TB SSD with a Thunderbolt + 16 x 16 Analog setup. I am unable to play even a SINGLE track with NO plugins. AAE 9173 error every time.

Having just spent more than $10K on this setup, I'm naturally quite upset. I've tried a clean re-install, deleting the click plugin, swapping computers, downgrading to 12.6, etc. No luck. CPU spike/9173 playing a single track.

At this point, I'm assuming Pro Tools is dead, and I should switch to Logic, or some other competitor. Makes me sad, as I've been a loyal customer for more than a decade.

I'll be contacting Avid and asking for a full refund for the Thunderbolt + 16x16 system. I must say, having read through this entire forum, this looks like a class action consumer protection suit waiting to happen.

Default Re: Yet another external display thread

I'm very interested in any resolution here as well.

I'm running PT 12.7 HD on a brand new MAXED OUT Mac Pro with an external thunderbolt display + Thunderbolt/16 x 16 Analog setup. I am unable to play even a SINGLE track with NO plugins. AAE 9173 error every time.

Cross-posting from another thread in an effort to resolve this issue.

At this point, I'm assuming this is a fatal flaw that does not relate to my hardware setup, and I should switch to Logic, or some other competitor. Makes me sad, as I've been a loyal customer for more than a decade.

Default Re: Dear Avid

I've used PT7 successfully for years with an old 002 rack. I Finally decided to pull the trigger on an HD rig, and spent $10K on a PT 12.7 HD Thunderbolt + 16 x 16 Analog setup and a brand new Mac Pro.

Out of the box, no plug-ins or aftermarket anything, Pro Tools is unable to play a single track with no plug-ins, effects, or VIs. I get a 9173 error every time. I've been troubleshooting for weeks with no resolution in sight.

I appreciate the frustration in this thread. I don't throw around hyperbole; I feel defrauded in every sense of the word by this company.

Sounds like a weird problem

You should go get another computer and try it, b/c I run PT12.5.1 on a E5 8 Core Xeon and don't have that issue.

Default Re: Dear Avid

If you have a second somewhat recent Mac (any will do) please try installing PT and iLok driver on that and see if this makes things better. If the 9173 is that rampant - there may be a hardware issue with your new MP. Replace all the cables too. I have run many systems and although 9173 is there off and on it was never - every time. If this stuff was new from a dealer or AVID - you should be able to get direct support and if that doesn't work - either get replacements or return it.

Yes and when you get another system

Trouble shoot with just PT Installed

Many 3rd party plugs can cause errors
