Default Repeated Error AAE-9171

Hello and thank you for taking a moment to read this thread. I'm having some trouble in PT12 with AAE -9171 errors. The system I'm using is pretty spec'd out and the sessions I'm running are nothing crazy (-60tracks) so I'm a little confused about why this keeps happening. It's interrupting my work. I did a lot of searching around yesterday before joining the forums to post this. I hope that this isn't redundant. Some details:

WiFi
As soon as I open the session, PT starts reporting some outrageous CPU usage. This screenshot was taken while paused:

I'm new to the HDx Core system. Should I expect the load to be more evenly distributed? Does 99% as seen below have anything to do with why I would keep getting interrupted with these errors?
(also while paused)

The following screenshot shows a general overview, including the error dialog in question:

The session open is not very heavy with plug-ins. I'm doing most of my processing with outboard. I wondered if this was perhaps a Sync issue with the Sync HD? It appears to be locked and working as expected. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I will add that I've tried disabling WiFi. I've tried disabling all inserts in the project. Any extraneous tracks have been hidden and made inactive. I should have included this in my original post but I thought it would appear as my signature because I updated my profile as suggested. Regardless, here is a detailed description of the system:

2012 Mac Pro
Processor: 2x2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 40GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Pro Tools 12.6 HD w/ 2 PCIe HDx Core Cards
Avid Sync HD linked to HDx Core card with serial cable
Burl B80 Mothership & B52 Converters
All of the above sync'd to an AMS Neve Genesys 72 input console using linear time code. I am using on-board (Encore 6) automation, not the HUI DAW control.

I'l give this a shot but others will know more. I would not be concerned about the 99% on HDX. It's usually the native processing that causes trouble. Typically the HDX processors fill up one by one as you have in you pic.

I do know that many folks have reported issues with El Capitan so I'm guessing that may be part of you issue.

Sometimes trashing your preferences clears stuff like this up. I have gotten that error when I rush things like clicking on a VI window right after it opens or pressing play while waiting for EA files to render.

Hopefully others can help more.

Carl

Thanks, Carl. Downgrading the OS isn't really an option right now, I think. I have some administrative control over the setup but project timelines and personal schedule restrict my ability to do that sort of deep re-organization. I hope that a solution will present itself. The problem is persistent and troubling, considering the obvious expense that's been undertaken to avoid a scenario like this.

I'm a PC guy, not Apple, but the 17,000 idle wake ups gets my attention. Is there something that is turning itself off to save energy and that has to be constantly re-enabled?

Buffer is currently set to 2048 samples, the maximum available.

Energy Save features have been disabled in System Preferences.
