Master List freezes

I have the latest upgrade of ProTools 24 and was sent the latest MLCD with it. I upgraded my RAM 64 more meg from 48.Bare extentions. Atlas 11 and Viking drive (they both work great in ProTools) Audio will freeze at different times playing tracks and will make a loud noise before it freezes. Happens with no edited files and can make it happen also when an track being edited (happens at altered starting time). MLCD was ok until I loaded upgrade. Anybody got any ideas? thanks jeff little
