Default novice question

Dear Friends, will appreciate for some help here.
am trying to work with protools free for windows98 SE.
but i keep getting squeaks!! all the time.

i have an intel P4 (D850GB), 1.5 GHZ and 386MB RDRAM.
my sound card is SB Audigy2 and inside my computer there are two hard drives:
c: 26GB where the PTF application is installed.
d: 80GB where i keep all my media files.

basically i work on win2k but when i need to work on the PTF i switch to win98
that is also installed on my PC.
please let me know if my hardware is capable to handle the PTF software at all and
if so, what would be the best configuration to get a normal result (i.e. no squeaks).

what are the best configurations inside the software itself
(i.e DAE buffer size, Sample rate etc..)

Best Regards,

Ziv

im suprised you are haveing trouble . im running a 450 mgz system and ptfree works fine for me . what problems are you having ?? i agree ptfree is not going to produce the dark side of the moon ,but for basic production or demo cds i found no real problems . please respond.

Thanks for your response.
i was getting squeaks and noises at times.
i really believe that it is mostly related to the playback engine, that is the reason why i was curious of other PTF users configurations, like sample rate and DAE buffer size.
However, since i posted my query in the forum some changes for better occurred in my PTF functionality. i think it was a result of changing driver for my SB Audigy II.
Still, at times when the PTF is occupied with rendering time compression, i still get a few squeaks here and there.

how do you configure your ProTools ?
