I use two Steinberg MR816 CSX with Pro Tools. They work GREAT! I'm not sure what you mean when you say "the best way to hook them up" Just plug your ins and outs where they belong, make sure that your firewire card is one of the recommended ones from the steinberg web site (usually any one that has a Texas Instruments chip inside it will do) If you are using Windows 7, it is also suggested to use the "legacy driver" for your firewire card. Follow the manual on how to hook up the MR816 units together. There is a nice picture diagram in the manual. That's all I can think of for now...

Thanks nexis :)

How are you monitoring when recording?
1. from the units (no latency)
or
2. from Pro Tools?

In theory I guess no 1 is what I want, so I can use reverb with no latency.
If so, how do you setup Pro Tools to achieve that? Just turn of the output on the channels that you record on, or is there other solutions recommended?

I'm able to record from unit 1, but from unit 2 I'm not.
Both units is set to "ADAT(1-6)+S/PDIF(coax)".

Any idea? Anybody??

If you are using the analog i/o, Connect to 2 with FW then they should up show in in the I/O sections of PT. Then choose the analog inputs you need,
I am having to use the MR Editor as the headphone monitor and use sendd from within PT to send the recorded music to the band members to hear back while they record. Its a bit convaluted and can't wait to maybe (big maybe) upgrade to an HDX systems (prolly not)

Hi,
does anyone know where I can choose my mr816x card in Pro Tools ? It doesn't show in my list (or on my MAC System Preference for that matter) and I just reinstalled the drivers. I only see Pro tools aggregate i/o.

Thank you.
