Default Cedar to AAX clarifications

Here is a short email from Cedar Audio Management regarding DNS One to AAX:

I'm afraid that I can't answer this question directly - CEDAR has made no announcement regarding RTAS or AAX.

However, I can confirm that software updates have been supplied free of additional charge on our CEDAR for Windows and CEDAR Cambridge platforms for the past 17 years, as have all upgrades relating to the DNS hardware and their associated Control Systems. Furthermore, the cross-grade from the original DNS One to the version now contained within CEDAR Studio is also being supplied free of additional charge to any customer who requests it.

I hope that this provides the reassurance that you need, and look forward to welcoming you to our family of CEDAR users in the near future.

Best regards,

Gordon Reid
Managing Director
CEDAR Audio Ltd

I was trying to get clarification about if there would be an upgrade cost, amnesty period, etc. This is a little heartening, but by no means an answer.

I asked at the AES show and got a similar answer. I do think Cedar will give AAX updates for DNS stuff, they have MANY users in the world and so far, all updates have been without charge. I am not worried.

In my opinion, CEDAR is a very professional company. They are not interested in gauging and squeezing the last cent out of their clients. CEDAR is interested in having the "best" software and the best "satisfied" clients and a "great" reputation. I trust CEDAR to provide upgrades either free or a reasonable price.

I would trust them as they are "the gentlemen of Sound".
Nice people to do business with.

I suspect they have been busy getting their latest software suite out.

I am sure AAX implementation will come and be free.

Cheers

I wonder how much that cross-grade costs?

CEDAR DNSOne AAX Native is here.

They say "Existing users running DNS One on Intel-based Mac systems may upgrade to DNS One AAX free of charge" now that is music to my ears. A company that looks after it customers
