Solo not working

I have a number of drum tracks that are then sent to a drum bus that I created which then feed into a Submaster bus and finally to the Master L/R output.

When I press the solo on say the kick drum I cannot hear anything. When I release I hear the whole band no problems. I can adjust the bus levels and add effects with no problem but for some reason Pro Tools is not able to solo an individual instrument, not even solo a bus.

I must be doing something wrong. Any advice appreciated.

You need to Solo-safe the bus master for the drums. Don't be afraid to crack open the manual(aka Help file)

And don't forget to solo safe any busses downstream from the drum bus master

I use PFL solo mode.

If you use PFL solo, you aren't listening through the chain/bussing your mix is normally routed out. Something to keep in mind.
