Default PT 7.4.2 with OSX 10.4.11 ?

I need to run OSX Tiger (10.4.11) for some of my computer programs on my G5 tower... I can not upgrade to Leopard right now.

I've been running 7.4 for a while, but recently borrowed a friend's new Macbook Pro so I can do a live recording session with my band, with the Mbox 2 Pro.. So I temporarily installed PT on his computer.

It automatically installed 7.4.2 on the laptop, and it fixed a few defaults I didn't like. I don't know what else was improved outside of Leopard compatibility, but for a start, 7.4.2 read all the Mbox 2 Pro's additional I/Os (in Analog 3-4, S/PDIF L-R, 8 outputs). I'm wondering if there are other bonus features that support the Mbox 2 Pro in 7.4.2, and whether I can install it on Tiger.

According to DigiDesigns webbpage you can't use 7.4.2 with 10.4.11

AFAIK other than the OS requirement, 7.4 and 7.4.2 are the same. A clean install on your Tiger machine (clearing Preferences and Databases) with the cs updates should achieve the same results.

Phil, are you sure about that? I'll re-install it if lets my PT read the Mbox 2 Pro, because I I've always had the manually added Inputs 3-4 instead of 4 analog inputs like I had on 7.4.2. Any official confirmation on this?

I thought 7.4.2 had drivers for all protools hardware from the mbox mini to mbox 2 pro, 002 even the control24 and automaticallty recognises all i/o's from said hardware. Or is that not right?

I've been using 7.4.2 with X 10.4.11 daily for post since its release with no issues.

002R with an older G5 dual2 w/5GB RAM and DV toolkit2, waves platinum and some 11 various other plugs. 4 FW drives and both interior drives full. US2400 board, 3 monitors (matrox), cables extensions gets the rig out of the mixing room -- I usually run 30+ track counts while syncing to a QT ref picture - all native! sys usage about 50%----in short, you can't crunch this set-up much harder and every day it just says, "is this all you got?" Anyway, not broken so it will take very very high water for me to "update", I just went into such detail to stress that this machine likes 7.4.2 and 10.4.11 just fine!
