Default Multiple User Accounts G5 PT TDM 6.7 HELP

I'm setting up multiple user accounts on the G5 for all the PT Users at the Studio but I can only get PT to launch when I'm logged in as the Admin? What do I need to do?

It gets thru the initial PT DAE but while loading plugs it crashes?

Please help
Thanks.

yah roots of the drives, DV Toolkit, for some reason has to be able to read write to all the drives.
Unless the user is a member of the admin group.

gomi, thanks, but ignore my signature, that's my personnel studio setup. This is a brand spanking new HD3 accel system in the big studio.

Some of the plug-in's still need to be authorized and I think that's what's causing PT to not launch correctly.

2x 192's
Control 24
G5 dual 2ghz
PT TDM 6.7

Mac HD 250Ghz systeme drive and,
One Internal audio (non journalled) ATA 250Gig drive partitioned into 5 volumes.

Everything should be working fine but I need to authorize some stuff still. I was tying to train some of my engineers to run things in their own user accounts so's not to mess up the admin account. PT would not launch.
I'll check things out again tomorrow.

Any other reasons why the Multi-user accounts could possible causing PT to crash on launch would be appreciated.
Thanks

P.S:Admin account works fine. it's only the "other" user accounts that won't launch

I've been here before...
See which plug-in PT is quitting on during launch. If it's a disk authorized/Challenge response plug (as opposed to iLok), it's a permissions issue with the invisible pace files. Re-authorize the plug-in from that account.

For us the culprit was Autotune 3.27. If you have that, then you have the same problem...

They fixed it for AT4.

OK, everything's working after authorizing the plugins but I had to put the Moogerfooger plugs in the unused plugin folder 'cause they were the last ones making the other users "quit on launch". I'm not sure if they have been authorized yet...I'm guessing not, so tomorrow will have to be another day to figure that out.

Thanks everyone!

Hey Guys,

I was looking to have a similar setup with PT9.
I have a Mac Pro 8 Cores w/ PT9, and I wanted to create several User Account to not mess to each other.

I wanted also to not allow any access to one drive (the Backup drive).

I did install PT9 w/ the Admin account and it works fine but it even doesn't appears on the other account.

What Shall I do? (re-activate the reading permission for the Backup drive?)

Something else? I wouldn't like to install PT9 for each individual account...

Any thoughts?

Thanks a million in advance,
Phil

I don't know about the user account thing but I can say that at the studio where I share we have separate external startup drives.

FW800 Glyphs and in the box is only drives for working audio sessions, no startup drives.

Was a flawless way to have multiple users.

After the install install and clone to the other drive we set up our individual prefs and it was a flawless way of dealing with 2 users in a room and total security of settings and what not.

this was on a G5 in 2005 to 2009. running 7.4 and previous versions from 05, not exactly sure hat PT version we started with.

Not sure about v8 and or snow leopard but on the system you described this should work, as an option at least.
