Default CD recorder or again a DAT recorder.

Hi.
I have to replace my good ole SV 3800 DAT recorder.
Would you go for a CD or DAT recorder for master Backup ?
I only do music production.

Depends...if you normally bounce to protools then get a DAT so you have another medium to print to....but its tough....ur asking a question only you can answer...what is it u mostly use and need....u are asking other individuals for something your going to use...I would buy something that is going to benefit me....

What I mean is:
Will a standalone cd recorder give me the same quality and is it as flexible as a DAT recorder?

I agree totally, go with the Master Link if you are purchacing a new stand alone CD Burner.

If you are doing it strickly for back up and archiving, CD is your best bet. They hold up longer and stronger over time. Dat is still a tape based product with dedrigation over time. It's digital tape, but still tape.
