PLEASE HELP - PT8 reinstall from flawed PT10 attempt

I've been using PT8 on my mac for years, and yesterday I saw a PT10 box laying around and I tried to install it to see what would happen. The result was my PT8 being overwritten by a non-functional PT10 (didn't have the iLok). When I uninstalled in, my entire Pro Tools was wiped from my computer.

I tried re-downloading it from the Avid site but now when I run the installer, I get this error message:

Installation Failed! The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I just want to get my old Pro Tools up and running again. Kicking myself over this self-inflicted issue, to say the least.

Holy s**t you just installed 10 from some disk laying around on an 8 system that was running good. Wow that is a crazy move man. You're best bet maybe to fork over the dough for an Avid support code and get it sorted out.

Have you tried repairing disk permissions yet?

If you're still stuck, it's probably time to backup your whole OS hard drive and re-install everything from scratch.

Make sure you are running the installer from an Admin account.
