Default Purchasing a "perpetual" license

I upgraded from M-Powered PT 8 to Pro Tools 10,11&12. I got what Avid calls a "perpetual" license. Does that mean I have to renew to keep the program running? What does "perpetual" mean here?

Default Re: Purchasing a "perpetual" license

It means you own it at its current state. If you want to upgrade when a newer version comes out, you have to be on the annual plan which is 99 bucks. You should not need to do that until a year from the day you bought your current copy. If you don't join the annual plan, you will be stuck at whatever version you were on when your current plan expires and continue to use it at the version forever if you choose, which would be a year from the day your bought it.
