I would upgrade to Catalina for generally surfing the web, etc, etc - and for keeping my iMac secure. (I would not be using pro tools on this yet, put it that way!)
In the meantime… When I wish to use Pro Tools 2019.5, I would boot up in Mojave 10.14.5, from the external X5. That is the idea anyway… It’s quite hard to explain this actually, especially, when I haven’t ‘crossed this bridge' before. Quote:
