Default How do you configure PT for footswitch input

Hi all,

Does anyone here no how to configure Pro Tools 11 so that an external controller will work as a footswitchable recording punch in/punch out device?

I have a Mackie MCU Pro Universal Controller and the control surface works regarding faders and transport controls but there is nowhere that I can get the foot controller ¼ inputs to operate in this regard. I’ve spent hours researching online to no avail. Manual says this is ‘usually configured within the DAW’ but cannot find anywhere in Pro Tools to do this.

Any help appreciated.
JD

Hi! I have exactly the same situation as you.

I need to punch on Pro Tools using a footswitch - and I have a MCU Pro (2008),

I've tried to use the "user switch" ports behind the controller (as I found this recommendation in Mackie website), but nothing happens.

Did you solv this?

If yes, could you share what did you do?

Thank you very much in advance!

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Ryldo.

If you get desperate and don't mind spending for a Presonus Faderport(or dump the MCU in favor of the new Faderport8), the footswitch jacks on those works perfect for quick-punch, as long as the SHIFT button is lit(its a latching button). I've been using that feature on mine for many years. Even when I had my 003, using the FP was less likely to cause a blip in the audio
