Default digi001 to digi002R upgrade playback engine issue

I traded my 01 in for an 02R and installed hw and sw (6.4 which I as already using with the 01 but reinstalled anyway) and when I try to open an existing session I get this message...

The last time this session was saved
the playback engine was "Digi001".
This playback engine is not currently
available. Wouls you like to open it
using the current playback engine
which is "Digi002"?

If I answer yes my system (XP SP2) reboots. If I try to create a new session my system reboots.

Anybody know how to fix this ?

Uninstall ptle. remove all instances of DALWDM.SYS, and reinstall ptle from scratch.

Sadly that didn't work. I removed all instances of dalwdm.sys but still had dalwdm.inf and dalwdm.PNF present - Would that make a difference ?

What version of ptle are you running (or trying to....)?
What firewire card are you using? More important, what chipset is being used on that card?

I know it is 6.4, but what cs-version? I think only in the last (6.4cs9) the problems with SP2 are solved.

You probably didnt suffer from those because the 001 uses a PCI-card as where the 002 and 002r use a firewire connection. Thus suddenly firewire matters pop up.

I'm on 6.4.0.138 which came with the 02R - I'm downlaoading 6.4cs9 as I write - I'll see if that fixes it.

I removed 6.4 and drivers, downloaded and installed 6.4cs9 and still have the same problem. My firewire interface was a Digidesign approved one and I've been using if for years with Buslink drives and my DIGI001 so I doubt it's that.

My system reboots even if I try to leave LE.

for harddrives..ok. For digi001...no way. digi001 is a pci device, so it doesnt use firewire cards.

Make sure your firewire card applies to the compatibility Digidesign demands.

I removed all software and drivers and deleted all my digidesign directories and downloaded 6.4cs9 again and did a fresh install - This time it all worked fine. The message still comes up but it accepts the file and runs perfectly. Thanks for your help.
