Why buy CPTK?
I am trying to figure out what is the point of buying a CPTK? I mean to me it makes no sense. ESPECIALLY for the price. Any thoughts?

Re: Why buy CPTK?
Well it really depends on your needs and the needs of your clients.. If you are just doing typical song production, you probably can get by fine without it. But there are advanced video and editing features and I/O and track expansion not to mention surround mixing that is available only in the toolkit. And if you need full compatibility with HD studios it's a good idea.

Re: Why buy CPTK?
I've been considering this upgrade (since Im a DV Toolkit 2) owner and it would only be $300. Everyone is saying it's a good deal at that price, but I don't know if I need many of the features.
- More tracks (192) always sounds nice. I get that. - Might someone explain what VCA Groups are and the benefit? - "Auto-match"? Whats this? - What are the enhanced "Import session data" features? - X-Form sounds like pretty cool tool. Might use it occasionally. If CPTK 2 came with all the plugs that version 1 did, I'd feel like I was getting more for the money, but I'm still on the fence. |

Re: Why buy CPTK?
Hey, I hope this helps.
VCA's help in the mix so you have better control over your groups while mixing a large session. They won't use a "voice" and require little memory. Auto Match finds regions that are identical within the session. This is mainly for post but can be used with music. For example: if you have a door slam that was used several times but does not work in the mix, you can replace all instances (regions) of that sound (the door) with another SFX. The advanced session import settings are just more similar to PT HD and let you spot, use timecode and keep settings like mic pre's, automation and such. Automation snapshots really help too. It would be cost effect to upgrade because your session will be more compatible with PT 9 HD. Also, the trim feature is great! It will really help out when you are fine adjusting levels after your first mix. Good Luck!
