Default Massive delay bug with multi out VIs

I'm starting a thread that's attempting to be a bit more clear. I saw a couple others... I just updated to PT11.1.0 OSX10.8.5

I've seen people post this issue with Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums, I did my tests with Kontakt 5 and Battery 4.

Toneshed did his tests with Aux tracks, mine Instrument. So it's not track type specific. Any instrument/sound routed to a multi out to a separate track with plugins WILL NOT be in time.

Video that Toneshed made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3wGdbKhJyc

This issue becomes even more pronounced with high delay plugins. Waves UltraPitch Shift the delay was almost a quarter note. This issue effects everyone making music with multi output VIs. As a composer this makes PT11 useless.

Hi,

Yes I see this too on Windows 7 and PT 11.1.0.

I´ve found a workaround though.
If I "Disable plug-in delay" on all drum tracks but the one with the longest delay it plays in sync. (In Windows it´s left mouse+Ctrl+Win)

See screenshot 1.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ma86mthhiv...in%20delay.jpg

Then you can even see that the tracks does compensate the delay as the "cmp" number changes from 0 to whatever delay there is on the track with the largest amount of delay.

Best regards,
Markus

This verifies what just hit me an hour ago. ADC is NOT working on tracks with inputs fed from multi output VIs. Other then the video issues PT11 is having I don't see any other bug that should be addressed sooner then this. My jaw is on the floor how something as big as ADC not working on multi output VIs made it in this release.

Thank you very much surstromming!

Hi,

I realised after some more testing that the result in my earlier post is only true if you just have plugins that causes delay on one of the tracks in a multi-out configuration, or the exact same amount of delay on several tracks.

If you have tracks with different amount of delay it gets more complicated to work around.

Then you have to manually write a negative number in all the tracks that have delay that is less then the one that has the most.
The number you must write s the same number that you see in each track but negative (-) for it to play in sync.

I hope this can explain it better as it is hard to explain:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ejf90ukyx3...%20testing.jpg

So this makes ADC not so automatic anymore when using multi-out instruments.

Hope some mod can have a look at this and pass it up to Avid?
If you need more info or a better explanation just let me know and I´ll try give it to you.

Best regards,
Markus

It works. But this is NOT right. I have a 100+ track template I'm working with at the moment. 75% is multi out VIs.

So I should just go write a matching - number in any track that has a smaller number then the highest delay of the shared Vi??? This is ridiculous. lol...

Are Win 7 & 8 users experiencing these problems with virtual instruments?

Yes. Here's a thread I started about what's going on. ADC is not working with multi out VIs in PT11.
