Talking I just bough my first HD rig!

Hi Everyone..

I just purchased my first HD rig and I am very excited.

I was previously using ProTools with a 001, 002r and a 003r as well as Pro Tools HD3 at the studio I work for.

I finally bit the bullet and forked over for an older PCIx HD1 core card, a used 96i/o and found an affordable Magma chassis to use with my PCIe Mac Pro.

I am really looking forward to ADC at home and am crossing my fingers that everything installs smoothly.

I thought I would say hello to everyone in the HD section of the DUC as I may be posting every now and again.

YAY PTHD!!

Pro Tools HD on a Mac Pro was the best investment I made in the past 4 years. It brought me more clients and has really been great for my growing business. Best luck with your system.

Congratulations!

I just upgraded to my first HD rig too but am a little disappointed with the performance as I run out of DSP very quickly. In fact way quicker than my old LE system! I think I really need to get a process or Accel card in order to do music production. Will be interesting to see how your system goes with DSP and ADC with TDM and RTAS.

All the best!

You should have more power than your LE sys even if you only have i card.. You now have ADC, TDM and RTAS..

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'll be sure to post my results once I install. I am more than likely going to do a fresh install of 10.6.2 so it may take me a few days to get everything back on here.

Still debating doing a migration from a recent backup.

Congrats! I'm currently in the audio studio at my church where I use a PTHD3 Accel linked up to a Venue DShow console. I use the C24 to mix a live board. After 35-years of broadcasting every Sunday morning, we've gone through EVERY possible system you can think of---and nothing can do for me what PTHD does---in an unconventional way at that! But what I love is the ability to just pull a hard-drive out and take to my home studio and voila, there is everything!

You're going to love the features, the realtime monitoring, the better quality plugins and audio in general. Again, congrats!

Yeah but it seems that ALL of my RTAS are too long for ADC. Event on the long buffer. If there is a single TDM plugin in the session with an RTAS, it playes back out of time.

If I use all RTAS, everything is fine (albeit not compensated but never the less in time).
