Default Splitting Long Files?

Guy's I need your help here, before I do something stupid.I've transfered 4 tunes from 2"[that's another story]but what I have now, is one long 480 bars or so of 24 track files..

It's 4 seperate tunes. What I want to do is seperate them into 4 sessions. And I want to be able to delete the original files from the transfer folder because it's full of duplicates and a whole set of those unholy Mac files.

If someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction before I waste anymore time or somehow lose them. I would be forever in your debt..Thanks

1) group all the tracks and split the files at the appropriate locations.
2) save as a new file.
3) delete all the regions except for one song.
4) save session copy in... and be sure to copy all the audio files
5) revert to last saved
6) repeat steps 3-5
7) get 6 pack and enjoy the rest of the day with the time you saved by asking first.

Bazzle,
An alternate method is to Edit-Separate Region at the intersections between songs and thyen select each region and select Consolidate Region and locate where you want the files to be saved - create a new audio directory for each file. This method creates audio files out of regions.

I would suggest (as has been mentioned) create a few steps between 3 and 4:

1) group all the tracks and split the files at the appropriate locations.
2) save as a new file.

(added)

3) Select the ALL group and place the cursor where you want the regions for the song to start.

4. In command focus mode press the A key and the front will be trimmed.

5) Place the cursor at the end of the song (with plenty of post roll)

6) In command focus mode press the S key and the end will be trimmed.

7) Select all the regions in the Edit Window for the single song and Consolidate (Alt+Shift+3) them.

8) Delete any unused Playlists.

9) Select all unused regions in the session Ctrl+Shift+U

10) Remove the selected regions (Control+Shift+B) - Make sure you use REMOVE and NOT Delete!!

11) Disable the ALL Group.

(pick up the rest of the steps):

4) save session copy in... and be sure to copy all the audio files
5) revert to last saved
6) repeat steps 3-5
7) get 6 pack and enjoy the rest of the day with the time you saved by asking first.

Once all the songs are done and confirmed.. you should be okay with deleting the long original session.
