ight this is what im going to do i have 256 mb right and i get static and popin when im recording vocals in ptle 6.1.1 so today im going to get 2 512mb of memory chips so i can get clear vocals when im recording and fast playbacks with no problems what ya'll think about that oh ya and i have 2 hard drives a cd burner and 1.20 ghz intel 60 gb ultra ata /100 so is this good..

streets, also, make sure your Windows XP has service pack 1 installed.

The service pack is VERY important for the USB update that it contains, and it might be what is causing your static.

I KNOW I DOWNLOADED IT LIKE 3 TIMES AND TRYED TO INSTALL IT BUT EVERY TIME I OPEN IT UP A WINDOW COME UP SO I PRESS NEXT THEN WHEN ITS CHECKING THE SYSTEM THE WINDOW JUST CLOSE AND NOTHING GET'S INSTALLED SO WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THAT..

streets, When you type in all capitals out here on the 'net, it's considered shouting. I know working with computers can sometimes be frustrating, but there's no need to shout. Just keep calm and we'll see what we can do to help.

As for your problem, I really don't know what is going on there. That's more of a windows problem than a Pro Tools problem. It's also been a really long time since I've installed SP1.

Does the user you are logged in as have administrator rights to that computer? If not, that might be the issue, but at this point I'm just guessing.

You might also want to try doing it from the Windows Update site. If there's a problem with the install, it might at least give you an error message.

It might help if you read the text in the windows that opens, and act appropiatly (sp?)
