Default Rewire shutdown problems

Anyone successfully using rewired apps like Bidulex64 or Reaperx64 with PT9 on Win7x64, and able to shut down ProTools without it hanging or locking up Windows?

When closing the rewire app first, then ProTools, I get an error everytime and have to kill ProTools.exe in task manager.

When attempting to close ProTools first, ProTools will lockup Windows and keyboard access (e.g. no way to call up task manager and kill it). Eventually I got a BSOD and Win7 rebooted.

Any solutions to this? Rewire works fine when up and running, but I need a normal, elegant solution to closing projects to make use of it.

I may just have to go to VE Pro, though it didn't work within ProTools 8 on my WinXP system. Hopefully I'll have better luck with it under PT9/Win7.

Thanks.

I have similar problems when closing after using rewire, though I never found a solution.

I had the same issue with Reaperx64 and PT. Switched to Reaperx32 and all is well.

Right, Reaper 32-bit is the answer for ReWire.

Curious though I don't use many VI's all at once, but I thought the reason you want to use Reaper through rewire is to access more RAM - but isn't a 32-bit app still restricted to accessing 4 GB's? Maybe that 4 plus what PT uses is plenty for VI's - just wondering.

Correct. The 32-bit version is limited. Not sure what the limit is - you may be right that it is 4G.

I dropped the rewire idea - VEPro 64 bit server works much better.
