No personal experience with the L2, but I ran into a couple of engineers at the Paris AES who had opinions similar to yours. Once they had an L2 in their hands, they weren't really into L1 anymore.

I just purchased one ! You can here the difference.. if you follow Waves comparison tips. You here a big difference ! I record a piano and bass duo live every Sunday morning to a Tascam DA-45HR..24bit. and I've been using the L2 to get into Protools, dithering on the L2 to 16bit- Type 1-Ultra shaping. I've compared other sessions even using a PSX-100.. nothing so far has compared. I also use it as my A/D front end for everything now.
Just strap that baby on the stereo bus and watch out !!!

Default L1/L2 - A/B test

I've been lately testing the new L2 hardware from Waves.I'm the owner of L1 too,so I had the chance to compare them. They do sound different-L2 sounds bigger, thicker, more accurate and transparent.L1- seems to be loosing low end a little, kills drums in the mix, makes the mix kind of thin.
Any observations from other users?

The L2 is much more transparent, and I find you can limit your mix more with out the audio losing quality. The converters are really nice I've got 2 AD8000's and a 88824 obviously the Apogee are better than the Digi
but I also think the L2 is a touch better than the Apogee. It works great as a tracking limiter on those hard to tame vocalists as well.

The L2 plugin sounds great is much more transparent than the L1 which has a thinner and more raw sound.

I used to use TC Finalizer for mastering but dumped it because of what it does to the sound especially the 200 Hz area and switched to L1 in combination with Filterbank.

Now I only use L2 and love it. I just wish Waves would do a mono version so I could use it on single tracks as well...
